It was interesting to me that when V was missing, Samuel immediately assumed someone had mistaken one of "his women" for the other. To me, that shows how he had started to see them "on the same level."
How horrible it would be to realize you created something that killed the one you love :(
I did not guess the ending. Personally, I did feel you did well with the "surprise" :)
